Anne was born with a deep fascination for horses and an easy affinity for animal communication.

At age three it was a devoted cat who helped her learn verbal and nonverbal communication between different species. At seven, she began teaching the family dog circus tricks, and at thirteen, she traded her bike for her sister’s Shetland pony and taught him to drive. Anne’s teens were spent backing and retraining green and troubled horses. It wasn’t long until she gained a reputation for consistent success with “difficult”, even impossible cases.

For six decades, Anne has ridden, trained, competed, and judged across many disciplines. Her focus is understanding what makes horses “tick”– how they think, what they think about and what is important to them. From there, how to produce the clearest and safest communication that leads to a productive, positive, sound, healthy, and joyful partnership.

Her goal is a “special” horse for every rider.

A true interdisciplinary approach:

Western Performance • AQHA • Hunt Seat Equitation • Dressage, Prix St. Georges • Combined Driving • Countless Hours on the Trails

A glimpse into 7 decades

I have written this book hoping to illustrate that anyone can learn to “whisper” to their horse and truly hear what they are whispering back.

Even challenging horses can become safe and happy riding and/or competition companions. I try to teach each horse to act out of knowledge and thoughtfulness rather than to react from fear and emotion. They all seem to learn to take care of me to the best of their ability and to give me as gentle a ride as possible. I believe this approach can and will keep other riders, trainers, farriers, vets and the horses themselves safer, sounder and happier in their lives and their relationships.
